The central body of he island under the control of the Four Clans as One – the farming Beørnings\, nomadic Augings\, seafaring Ylvings and the Refskeggings\, the traders and Kings who keep the laws\, under the watchful eyes of the Mystics – once of a clan\, now unfettered in the wake of the Gods’ will. \nIn the 22nd year of the reign of King Olaf Refskegging\, something historic happened. Peace was brokered with the Manafolk’s ancient enemy\, the Brúsingr\, once the fifth clan of their people\, led by the fifth hero who took the island and – according to the sagas – removed all of the Jotun and Trollkin from Manafell alongside Ylva\, Refskegg\, Auga and Beørn. A marriage between the King’s son Prince Thorstein and the pragmatic daughter of King Halfdan of the Brúsingr. \nThe Jomsvikings were next – five bands of warriors led by five Jarls\, who swear oaths to no kings who cannot pay them. One\, Gríma Knothair\, was won over with piety\, another two by quiet agreements with the Manafolk. Jarls Hilda and Johan had a problem: one of their fellow Jomsviking Jarls was a troublemaker\, a nuisance\, but anything they may do to aid the succession of his much more… amenable… captain would not be looked upon well by their people. The Manafolk were able to lend a hand\, and a dagger in the dark. \nBut what of the lands to the West? The raids in the summer proved it was not merely legend. The place called North-Umbria holds many treasures – too many for them to bring home on their brief sojourn in the summer of 800AD. A plan has formed… If there is Northumbria\, what about South-Umbria? And the people known as Picts\, who were not averse to cordiality\, warrior to warrior? Perhaps there is more to be gained there too. \nThe ties of Manafell – the Oaths sworn – will hold the island\, and those with a glint in their eye will sail west.

Few of those who once sailed with him have anything to say in his defence. Impatience with in-fighting surely pushed him to seek the security of a Privateer’s Letter of Marque\, but in betrayal and death he has managed something he never managed with force of will in life alone – unity. \nThe hatchet is buried\, let the crews of the Santiana and Chariot not speak of it again. Presumably\, the crews of the Diamond\, Marengo and Devil’s Daughter give a sigh of relief as all can finally focus on what is important – treasure. \nIn the months since the pirates first took possession of the island that Blackbeard had left them\, work has been done to make it more of a base for the crews who call it home by those who elected not to throw in their allegiance with a single ship but instead take what freelance jobs the captains were willing to pay for. With the assistance of those crews who\, by lack of resources or need of refit were unable to take to the high seas this season\, there is a sense of hope on the breeze. \nAnd breeze there is. Like the years before with the Urn’s light drawing people to them\, it seem’s now they try their best to fight multiple fronts. The Black Hand on one\, reaping havoc through the Old Forest – their new devastating weapon\, to fight fire with fire\, magic against magic. They do so without thought or regard seemingly unleashing this power on to whom they deem Apostate and criminal. The Five Kingdoms\, do nothing for it is out of their purview and it has not been discussed who holds claim to the reclaimed lands of the Dark Forest or how one would split such an area to dispense their Kingdom’s justice to this frontier.\n \nBandits\, on another front running rampant in the chaos that has been caused by the Black Hand; the Pilfering Knave welcomes all thieves and brigands to their gang and now has the chance for the throne of Bandit prince. DESCRIPTION:FilmSim events and Eye LARP proudly presents a Kitty Dobson and Nigel Price production: \nLand Without A King\nThe Shards of Albion \nEpisode 3: Restoration \nOctober 21-23rd 2022. \nWelsh Drive\, Eversley \nTickets price £85 for the Early Bird with a £45 deposit until the 23rd September 2022.\nTicket Price from the 24th September 2022 will be £95 with a £55 deposit.\nPlease see booking details below.\nCapped at 60 players and 40 crew \n———————————————————————————————————————————————— \nSTORY SO FAR \nAutumn 505AD \nAnother piece of Excalibur finds its way to the Interregnum Court\, those still loyal to the memory of King Uther\, now dead eight years. \nA Kingdom splintered\, but now drawn together as with the splinters of the sword which once meant so much to the people – a sword that was foretold to decide the next ruler of all Albion. \nThe Mendicant’s Spear\, once held by a misguided priest preaching uprising to the common folk\, now rests in the hand of those who took it from him – justice in some eyes\, violence in others. \nThe Vandal’s Seax\, given freely by the son and heir of one of Uther’s most trusted confidants\, gone from Albion for two decades and raised among the Barbarians in the ruins of Rome. \nTwo pieces remain\, from the opposite ends of the blade that once held them – the diamond that once rested in the pommel\, and the tip of the sword itself. \nIn the meantime\, the best harvest in a decade has brought a content to the shores of Albion\, as plentiful food and merriment has oiled the gears between the haves and have-nots. The rebellion in the north is by no means over\, but between the relative peace and treaty negotiated with Rowena of Kent and her Saxons\, fewer houses have been burned\, and storehouses plundered. \nThe Nuns of Beale have also proved to be true to their word\, providing the healing arts to members of several of the retinues of the Pendragon Court while they wait for their Abbey to be relocated. These nuns travel freely in small groups across the lands of Albion\, and with the financial support of the court have been busy setting up three smaller sister-priories where their skills can be taught. \nAll this is fine and good… but some of those who met at Conisborough in Spring are still plagued by dreams. Some nightly\, some only when in their cups\, some only very rarely\, but always the same visions they had after drinking the water of a holy well found a little north of the village. The rebel Captains of the Republic of Pirates were forced out\, or sold out and were given the King’s Pardon in exchange for hunting down their fellows. Some were hanged\, some died at their guns\, but many escaped to cooler climes and other opportunities. \n  \nA year passed\, and it became clear that they were a dying breed\, begging for scraps. The hunting grounds of the Caribbean were now the fortified trade routes of four empires\, and without a friendly port to guarantee refit\, the danger of taking on a British\, Spanish\, French or Dutch frigate was often too high to countenance. \n  \nIn 1720 the stories started to be told. A Pirate fleet could be assembled; the likes of which no Empire had ever seen. Over a hundred independent Captains working together to form a Pirate Armada to chase out the navy of King George forever\, and show the world that the Republic was not just a brief dream. Some disagreed\, but many were won over\, taking their ships and persuading their allies to follow the figureheads of the last of the Pirate Council who once ruled Nassau. In the Spring of 1721 they met\, and sailed. The Pirate Armada of the Free Republic of Nassau sailed for the first and last time\, gathering speed and numbers as it thundered along to the island it once called home. \n  \nA home where it was met by the full force of the British Navy. Over a hundred ships of all shapes and sizes from the free captains\, against sixty frigates\, a dozen Third Rate Ships-of-the-line\, four ninety-gun Second Rate Ships-of-the-line and the pride of the British Navy\, the HMS Britannia.\n\nIt was a bloody day for Pirates: great names like Calico Jack\, Charles Vane\, Benjamin Horningold\, Mary Read\, Ann Bonny – the greatest pirates of their age – either died or were captured and hanged in the newly re-established British port of Nassau by Woodes Rogers. \n\nBut not all was lost that day. During the heavy fighting\, five ships manage to escape amongst the chaos of the shot\, smoke and screams. They collected those who were left sinking by the crown as they focused on the ships still showing fight\, taking as many people on board as they could before they were claimed by Davy Jones.\n\nOne of these ships was captained by Blackbeard’s first mate – a ruthless and puritanical pirate by the name of Israel Hands – who led these five ships north for fifteen days across open seas\, avoiding any land or ships that crossed their path. On the sixteenth\, Hands’ ship\, the Santiana\, flagged to dock in the next island cove\, but the other crews looked about with alarm – there were no coves nearby on any chart they possessed. The nearest land was six days north or eleven days west\, the only thing they were likely to find in this salt-ridden waste was a slow death by becalming and the thirst that came with it. \nBut then\, out from the sea spray on the horizon a shimmer of light. Land ho! As if hidden between the sea and the sky themselves.\n\nRumours always abounded about Blackbeard’s secret island and how he escaped the Crown for so long\, and this must be Blackbeard’s final gift to the Pirate Republic. \nA place to start anew. The Church of the Second Coming\, with their doctrine of cleansing the unjust\, unfaithful and those they declare sinners sent warning after warning that the people of Juno would be next to fall to the righteousness of their belief\, sending their zealous followers to lay siege to Juno and those that came to the sinful Juno Valley Valentine’s Ball. \nA day of full chaos and bloodshed followed\, with many wounded\, dying and dead on both sides. It seemed at one point that Goodwill and Sweetwater would fall but with true grit and determination the Second Coming’s zealots were pushed back out of Juno Valley. Many theories abound as to its origin\, and also the myths that it may have inspired. Is it Atlantis\, or the home of the Sea People who created so much trouble for the Ancients? Or perhaps evidence of the islands Odysseus encountered after the fall of Troy.\nEither way\, there is only one way to get there\, before the whole island dives beneath the waves for another century and change.\n_____________________________\nIf that’s whet your appetite\, some OC information now:\nThe Oasis is inspired by movies set in and around the Golden Age of Hollywood\, such as 1933’s King Kong\, 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire and 1952’s Singin’ in the Rain\, and also pulpy classics set in the 1930s such as 1999’s The Mummy and 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark.\nIt has been written as a one-shot – that is\, we’re currently only planning to run it once\, this August 5th-7th 2022.\nIn the style of Flying Lead: Nightmare\, there is a high likelihood your character will not survive filming! There will be other opportunities of continuing to play the game – but dying in a suitably climactic\, cinematic way is a part of the experience!\nAs with all our games\, The Oasis is set on a fictional pocket of history to allow all potential players to have fun with the inter-war adventure aesthetic without worry of discrimination based on “historical attitudes”. A month after the winter solstice meeting\, a trade caravan appeared at an Auging village near the mountain border\, bringing a dozen ox-carts of salted mutton and leathers south to Grimmfold – a gift appreciated by all those sick of turnips\, saltfish and reindeer jerky.\n\nOf the traitorous Vili Harefoot\, little has been seen; or of the oath-breakers and criminals he has called to his cause. Without the imminent attack of Gríma Knothair and his warband of Jomsvikingr\, it seems Vili’s rebellion has been nipped in the bud\, and his own people have not asked for his return – with the exception of his head. Princess Ingrid has offered a fat purse of silver for whoever can present it to her on her next trip to Grimmfold.\n\n\nWith the deeply pious Gríma Knothair convinced of the blessings of Tyr that have been conferred on the Manafolk\, the other Jarls of the Jomsviking stronghold Gildvall on the eastern shore of Manafell are at a deadlock. Gríma refuses to raid a people who have proved themselves to him in a battle witnessed by the gods\, but the offers of gold from Queen Gunnhild have the others still considering an alliance. Although barely a stone’s throw from the Roman Provinces of southern Gaul\, the terrain has made it impossible for the legions to simply march in and do what they do best. The Duranus river surrounds three sides\, a mountainside the fourth\, and the Legatus in command is doggedly keeping them penned in\, but rumour is he at a loss against these Gauls who seem to need for nothing inside their keep. \nThe orders from Legatus Gaius Caninius Rebilus are simple. The Eleventh will march north from Narbo and prevent reinforcements reaching the siege from other rebels in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Commandeer the fortress of Sotium and be ready for further orders. \nThe Hound of Alesia has barked\, and the Eleventh had better answer.

Many from the abandoned villages on the frontiers of Gore chose to seek refuge with the bandit lords establishing themselves at the very North of Albion’s reach\, others pushed East to throw themselves on the mercy of the Dunstans of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles. The remaining supporters of the Thistle King – if indeed any still exist – were cut off to the far North\, or scattered amongst the lands of Albion\, leaderless. \n“The Fallen” of the Cambrian lands to the West have shaken off the fog that filled their minds to find their lands desolate\, with kith and kin scattered to the winds. In such a power vacuum\, Gwenllian ferch Dafydd – the sister of the last Cymric King to attempt to unite the tribes of Cambria – has stepped forward and carved herself out a new princedom around the Usk river\, called Gwent. Taking her seat as Caerleon\, the once burned and twisted centre of the plague that sent so many of her kinsfolk into madness\, she is determined to show Albion that she is not just a warlord\, but a Princess of her people.\nIn the northern Cantref of Gwynedd\, Prince Vortigern has languished without an heir\, and seeks all those who think themselves worthy to treat with his court. It is to be seen if he will find a successor to rival those vying for power in other regions\, or if his lands will fall to invasion before long.\nWithout a leader for a handful of years\, the Cymric lands of Demetia have become vulnerable\, both to coastal raids and spiritual attack. Holy people – of the Christ-God and the Old Gods alike – have gained significant support in recent years with a regular stream of penitents and pilgrims seeking absolution\, atonement or answers to their questions. \nWhile their neighbours manage their own affairs\, the Lieges of the Interregnum Court have been forced to look internally at the two threats that have festered in the decade since Uther ruled with a fist of steel and blood. The first\, the Saes or Saxons who after three years of campaigning have ensconced themselves firmly in Deira Forest. The second\, the young man wrapped in mystery claiming to wield the Spear of Longinus against the tyrants of Albion. \nThe former issue was deftly dealt with by diplomatic action – dividing the three warbands roaming the mountains and forests of Elmet and Lindsey and making one an offer that could give her sway over her countrymen. This Saxon leader – Rowena Hengistdottir of Kent – seeks to gain a foothold of her own in the country\, but even the wisest cannot predict if her determination to avenge her father’s killer will be steadied by the pursuit of her ambition. \nThe latter… it is said that the story of the martyrdom of Saint Owen the Mendicant is being told as far as Frankia. Cut down with his congregation\, armed only with staves and hammers\, his holy relic given to the knight who led the charge? There are some whispering that the wyrm that plagues the region is a manifestation of the devil himself\, here to purge the unholy from the shores. \nOthers that the Great Dragon itself is displeased. The King is the Land. The Land is the Dragon. His “no prisoners” stance proved popular with some residents\, although there are some that say that those who live by the sword are sure to die by them too. \nWith law and order brought to the valley\, a new religious sect out of Utah has found a footing nearby. The Brotherhood of the Second Coming have made themselves known\, but it yet to be seen if the fire and brimstone they spout is true or just the frothing of zealots seeking power in this remote spit of land. \nWhile the ugly head of politics was reared amongst the law-bringing folks in clashes between Sheriff Carver’s Deputies and the Pinkerton Detective Agency\, the arts were brought into the spotlight by the Juno Valley Symposium of Arts\, who displayed several new works by up-and-coming artists of the region. \nThis new era of stability has lured fresh blood to some of the vacant lots in Goodwill\, for those who can afford to rebuild the streets and shops that were once burned to the ground by Henry King and the Kingsmen. One Fauna Fortuna – according to her handbills a well-regarded herbalist and spiritualist – has opened shop next door to Jakob’s\, and been met with much excitement by those ‘sensitive’-minded locals looking for answers from the beyond. \nWith the telegraph back up and running\, requests for shipments of fine fabrics\, notions and haberdashery supplies have been passed on as far as New Austin City itself\, as the fine folk of Juno Valley get ready for the St Valentines Day Ball\, hosted by Mayor Carson in the beautiful hamlet of Sweetwater next Saturday night. The general store has almost run out of valentines cards – and a fine selection of “vinegar cards” for those inclined to spread sourness instead of sweet – but the residents may be in luck and snap up a few before the big day. \nIt should be a fine start to the social calendar of 1881\, and a fine night for all those residents wishing to comport themselves with decency and decorum. Whether those ne’r-do-wells in the region will allow them that is a source of much speculation\, but both Sheriff Carver and Mayor Carson have sworn to ensure that those willing to keep the peace will be well paid from Goodwill’s coffers of coin and goodwill both.

The deeper homesteaders of the dark forest speak of the forest folk attacks lessening\, but still the occasional farm is burnt to a cinder\, stores robbed and farmhands missing.  \nThe Lodge continues to be the frontier\, the last friendly house before the Dark Forest\, more and more people head east to claim land once held by their people before the taint of Leomass corrupted all. The promise of untilled earth is taken up by many Ba’Morians\, Elves and Dwarves looking to set up a home. \nBut Leomass’ power hasn’t fully gone\, something stirs in the dark\, and many of these unprepared people fall to complacency and a lack of vigilance. The notes included the words “lacklustre” and “a danger to themselves and the image of the company” between redactions… But the exercises where cut short due to the works of the Juunishi Yakuza who thought it would be a lucrative time to not only start a prison barge breakout by dropping it out the skies\, but also to test a dirty bomb on a populated back-water planet\, with Dropship Achilles the closest that could be called on. In an act of extreme valor. the Myrmidons thwarted not only the prison break but also the bomb. \n\nFor the Company this blatant act of terrorism was very much outside the wheel house of the Juunishi\, who focused most their efforts on extortion\, money-laundering\, prostitution\, gambling\, trafficking in drugs and weapons\, the more sophisticated white-collar crimes\, when not working as guns for hire for other branches of the cartel – making them usually an excellent pool of potential Myrmidons for Company recruiters. \nThe Company have sent Dropship Achilles to the Grus system to track down a two notorious members of the Juunishi Yakuza who have climbed rapid in the hierarchy of the organisation\, making their way to Kyodai – “Big Brothers”. \nThe Mission is: find intel on their location\, any acts terrorism and arms deals\, with the possibility of engaging in ops to grab and stop the Juunishi before their next big hit. \n—————————————————————————————————————————————– \nThe game will run from Friday 11th – Sunday 13th February 2022 \nRegistration will be open from 17:00\, with a safety and game brief will be at 20:00 \nTime in will be:\n21:00 till 01:00 Friday\,\n10:00 till 01:00 Saturday\,\nAnd 10:00 till 13:00 Sunday

DESCRIPTION:FilmSim events and Eye LARP proudly presents a Kitty Dobson production: \nBindrune \nEpisode 2: The Goat and The Fox \nNovember 26th – 28th 2021. \nWelsh Drive\, Eversley \nTickets price £75 for the Early Bird with a £35 deposit until the 2nd October 2021.\nTicket Price from the 3rd October 2021 will be £85 with a £45 deposit.\nPlease see booking details below.\nCapped at 50 players and 30 crew. \n  \nStory So Far \n\nIt is two seasons since Prince Thorstein Refskegging called the Clans to him at the ancient capital of Grimmfold seeking an answer to his dreams.\nA long-abandoned longhall\, with a long-dead corpse within provided only more questions\, as the clansfolk dealt with raids from the Brúsingr – the Goat Clan – and reports of attacks on the coast.\nA group of shipwrecked Vikingr from Hålogaland in the far north of the mainland brought confirmation of lands to the west beyond Hjaltland\, and a warning that the people there have great riches in their temples\, but their seas are even more dangerous than their warriors.\nA well-seasoned warrior of the Brúsingr was captured and held ransom with some of his raiders\, who revealed their king had been paid handsomely to raid the Manafolk\, with talk of a marriage alliance to Queen Gunnhild of Vestfold as further incentive.\nThe Vølva and Seidr of the clans worked in unison to discover the identity of the corpse who had gone to such pains to seal themselves in their own tomb – a mystic who had had dreams exactly like the Prince’s; of uniting the clans in the goal of exploration and conquest rather than petty border squabbles. The meeting had ended in blood\, with old grudges and blood feuds raised\, along with axes. With an arrow in her chest\, she gathered the ingredients for a ghost fence\, sealed the door\, and waited.\nHer name – Randvi Brúsingr\, of the Goat Clan.\nWith an attack from Jomsvikings and Vestfold warriors expected\, the Clansfolk rushed to a coastal fort\, to retake it for Manafell\, and push all who stood in their way into the sea…\n\n\nKing Refskegg has heard the story of what his son and followers managed\, and for the first time in a decade\, King Brúsingr is willing to meet and discuss terms. At the winter solstice\, the Clans will drink\, feast\, and if the terms are acceptable – bury old grudges. With the epic events of the previous years’ campaign\, the story of Albion is set to enter new territory as the heroes and villains of our troubled little island struggle to rebuild\, following the catastrophic civil war. \nWhen the tide turned for the Pretender known as the Thistle King\, and the Knights of the Pendragon Court stepped over the bodies of his fallen army\, the highlander turned his rage inward. If he could not wield it\, no one would. Plenty has happened in the better part of 1880: Botched hangings; gruesome murders; an all out attack from Confederate sympathisers; fireworks and a mayoral election which saw a gunsmith by the name of Jack Carson become the new Mayor of Juno Valley.
