New Stories!

EYE Larp is adding two new events to the stable in 2017!

Kicking off an epic tale of gladiators, politics and sitting-in-the-ampitheatre heckling, Primus Ludus Magnus has its first event on 31 Mar 2017 – you can read more on the event Facebook page.

And then, delving into the lost worlds of pulp fiction, Jurrasica will be giving players the opportunity to indulge their inner Victorian with a tale of exploration, pith helmets and tea. So much tea. Again, more info on the Facebook group.

We’re all totally frothing about these events – so take a look at the info and why not come and join in? As always, we’re on the look out for Crew as well as players – so if you’re interested, drop us a line!

As the dust begins to settle on Culloch’s Fall, normality returns to this isolate region. Recently, the location of strange happenings, the annual celebration and commiseration of ‘The Long Night’ takes its toll on the current incumbents. Ghosts, long-dead; suffering at the hands of the French rise from their untimely graves to relive the atrocities afforded them. In the midst of the chaos, dark and untoward occurrences drag this quaint celebration of memorial into a much more sinister light.

Those who liberated the town some weeks passed, on envoy from Logan’s Bay now find themselves at a crossroads; between stagnating on Salvation, or the potential of more elsewhere. The portal, temporarily obscured over the previous night, once again reveals itself – an ominous portent of possibility; a new start, a new location; hope. Rumour spreads among those gathered, murmurs of Frontier; that un-tamed beast, a promise of possibility, of untapped resources, of the unknown.

A vote is held, so customary in democracy; the vote is split. Tension rises as a valiant few step through this doorway to another world. A momentary respite, a breath of fear; thoughts turn to pressing matters – the threat of Cortez, the war for Salvation, the Iron Fist – Better the devil you know? Those few who remain, look to each other for a sign of clarity, their wounds fresh, their numbers severely dwindling – best to linger in uncertainty?

Questions begin to race as the night draws near, the smell of sulphur and gunpowder still fresh on the cold-air. The blood of friend and foe still wet on the ground, beads of sweat quenched in winter-chill.

Away in the distance, along the north road towards White Back Bay; figures begin to amass. Hundreds, thousands – so many figures the narrow passage is blotted from view, as the road swells with occupants a cry is heard from within the town; “Sails!” – a familiar ship pulls into the harbour a few miles East; Blackbeard’s Ship. Those fording travel to Frontier aboard his vessel gather their belongings and vital supplies, hard fought for the journey ahead. Those staying behind consider their choice, as the road shrinks under the bare of so many people moving ever closer.

The sky, now awash with the purples and reds of the setting sun, the chill in the air grows coarse, exhalations turn to mist on the air. Still the figures grow, several miles out – marching, onwards, closer.

Story So Far

Its a new year and a new decade in the State of New Austin. The first few months of 1880 have been cold; the thaw took a little longer than usual, but now the first buds of spring are in the trees the roads seem somewhat busier these days, the state noisier then ever before, people from far and wide coming to this great state to make a life for themselves in the frontier.

It is a promise that brings them from the comfortable towns and profit-driven cities of the East Coast, and even further away in the old countries of their forefathers – the promise of land, and fortune, and perhaps adventure. A promise of a place where a person can trade the sweat on their brow for honest living, or where the lucky can take a chance and win big. But with the gold-hunters, hustlers, preachers and straight shooters come another type, always in the shadows, always following just behind. The presence of the law always needs the lawless, and when times are hard lawlessness often pays better.

You find yourself living in the hamlet of Sweetwater when word catches your ear that old Sheriff Carver and his deputies have apprehended the known outlaw Henry King and that he’s been sentenced to be hanged in the town of Goodwill, a local servicing town for the hamlets and ranches around the Juno valley. From your experience and what the locals have been saying, a hanging is a great spectacle in these parts and that the saloon and gambling house will be livelier then ever. Whether you love him or hate him, Henry King is so notorious that when folk talk about him in 20 years time, you want to be able to say that you were there at the end.

The Forest

The Forest.

You sleep and you dream of the Forest. It is a strange place of masked creatures and meandering paths. In the Forest, childhood memories live alongside the more sinister fantasies of disillusioned adulthood. As you journey through it, your road takes you past the colorful pennants of Fluttertown, dark lairs, and via the winding streets of the underground Temple-city of Manchester. You are accompanied by mystic guides and worshipful followers.

In the Forest, you see yourself anew: both a reflection and a part of yourself you have long weaned away from the waking world. You, like so many inhabitants of this strange realm, are a mask-wearer. It defines you and tells the story of your exploits. This is the first dream.

You wake with a blank mask in your hand and your head swimming with new knowledge. You are a Kun Tatel, one of the kin. You have been summoned and this is your path to walk.

Henceforth, signs and portents will guide you to the place where you may dream again, where you may learn about others of the kin and about the devouring dark you can feel clinging to corners at the edge of consciousness.

When you dream again, you will feel the soft mulch under your feet and the first mark will be made on your mask as you begin your journey into the Forest.
