You’ve heard of Mercenaries
Now hear of the Myrmidons
Dropship: Achilles is EYELarp’s brand new sci-fi Airsoft-LARP, debuting in 2020.
Basic Information and Concept
Dropship: Achilles is an Eyelarp action sci-fi game based in the not-too-distant future where humanity has outgrown Earth and started seeding other Star Systems of the Milky Way. “The Company” is what keeps the peace in these systems.
As players, you will be taking the role of mercenaries who have been recruited to join the company’s elite team known only as the Myrmidons.
We are taking inspiration from action films such as The A-Team, The Losers, 13 hours and The Expendables, sci-fi franchises such as The Expanse, Altered Carbon, Killjoys and Firefly, and video games like The Division, XCOM and Ghost Recon Wildlands.
The objective is simple: complete missions given to you by the Company.
After being dropped on a planet, moon or outpost, you’ll be fighting against the elements in each operation, dealing with anything from rebels to out of control mechs to hostile indigenous life forms. Whether it’s to claim something for the company, clear a planet for repopulation, restore order or complete an assassination – as Myrmidons, you must fulfil it to the Company’s exacting standards.
As always with EYELarp’s FilmSim games, we are encouraging high production values and will be striving for a cinematic look and feel to everything we do.
The main rule is: react to everything and don’t expect a specific reaction.
Setting
The year is 2520 and humanity has reached far across the Milky Way.
Sometimes prospering, sometimes failing but regardless of hardship, humanity never slows its expansion, thanks to Dr. Hardeep Laskar, the genius that invented the FTL Warp Drive.
This expansion hasn’t come without a price; the further away from the origin planet of humanity the less you feel for it, many generations have never stepped foot on Earth and feel far more allegiance to their own system.
The Terran Alliance of Planets still holds most of the power in the Milky way, but they have on occasion pushed their resources to the limit, allowing inter-planetary corporations to stake claim to outer limits, bringing in their own private security to quell those sectors trying to break off from the rest of humanity and form independent colonies. In return, they were given permission to extract natural resources from the planets they had returned to the fold of the Terran Alliance.
In the year 2445 The Terran Alliance of Planets formed The Company, an independent intelligence branch to keep an eye on the corporations and the outer limits after a particularly bloody conflict broke out, rendering two terraformed silicate planets in the Reticulum system uninhabitable. The fires of civil unrest were breaking out in nearby systems, and members of both civilian and corporations were being killed by either party in an ongoing guerilla campaign against racketeering in the largely unpoliced outskirts of the known galaxy.
2447 was the year of the first Company involvement: a group of company mercenaries were sent to the outerlimits to gather intel on a kidnapped high value member of the Titan Corporation. Within days not only did the Company rescue the employee but also found evidence against a major crime family in the outer limits and swiftly acted on a warrant.
One year later, with the backing for the Terran Alliance of Planets, The Company revealed their Trojan-class destroyers: Agamemnon, Odysseus, Nestor, Ajax and Achilles. These ships were not crewed by members of the Terran Alliance of Planets security forces but by Company personnel and contractors – mercenaries who had proven themselves as assets to The Company.
All about the image, The Company PR department refused to call them ‘mercs’ or contractors… instead – ever with a flare for the dramatic – they gave them the name Myrmidons.
